Homemade Fajita Seasoning Recipe
Create your own unique homemade fajita seasoning mix using our recipe. Keep it in your cabinet for months and use as little or as much as you like!
Every now and then, Kim and I love to make our own spice blends, condiments, and herb butters.
Recently, we wanted to have a Fiesta Friday meal but we didn’t have fajita seasoning in the cabinet.
So, Kim looked up a recipe on All Recipes.com and found a wonderful spice blend. She made a few changes and created our recipe from that one.
I recommend you check out this link for the original recipe. Shall we get started?
How to make homemade fajita seasoning?
Honestly, the recipe is not difficult.
Also, if you keep these spices on-hand, it will save your a trip to the store.
Which, in turn, saves you time and money.
So, to begin, simply measure out all of your seasonings.
Then, toss them in a bowl and mix them together using a spoon or whisk. That’s it, your homemade fajita seasoning is done!
We recommend using it on our new flat iron steak fajitas.
Kim and I hope you enjoy the recipe and hope you have a lovely day 🙂
Can I use fajita seasoning in place of taco seasoning?
Of course, however, it won’t create the exact same flavor. Taco seasoning tends to be a bit spicier than it’s fajita counterpart. It seems some taco seasonings contain more chili powder.
How many tablespoons of fajita seasoning are in a packet?
The average packet contains 1.25 ounces of the spice blend. So, about two heaping (2) tablespoons of our seasoning blend would equal a full packet.

PERFECT! I added a little cayenne, since I didnt have chiptole and just ran out of chili powder. It worked out great because we’d rather add spice to a meal in other ways, than to start out with a super spicy dish. I saved the rest in a jar and plan to use with your fajita recipe again (which was also great!) Thank you!
Thanks so much, Audra!
We’re glad the seasoning worked out. Adding extra cayenne was a good swap. Have a great evening! 🙂
