Tips for the Perfect One Pot Garlic Parmesan Pasta

Tips

Use Freshly Grated Parmesan: For the best flavor and texture, use freshly grated parmesan cheese rather than pre-shredded. It melts better and adds a richer taste to the sauce.

Add a Protein: To make this dish more filling, consider adding cooked chicken, shrimp, or crispy bacon bits. These proteins complement the creamy garlic parmesan sauce beautifully.

Make it Ahead: This pasta dish can be made ahead and reheated. Simply add a splash of chicken broth or heavy cream when reheating to maintain its creamy consistency.

Storage

Refrigerator: If you have any leftovers, let the pasta cool completely before transferring it to an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating Instructions: To reheat, place the pasta in a skillet over medium heat. Add a splash of chicken broth or heavy cream to help loosen the noodles, and stir occasionally until heated through.

You can also reheat in the microwave by placing the pasta in a microwave-safe dish and adding a splash of liquid. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until hot.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 cups chicken broth, or vegetable broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 ounces linguine
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper, or to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes, optional
  • 2 cups fresh spinach, optional
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • In a large pot or deep skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
    2 tablespoons olive oil
    4 cloves garlic
  • Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream, then bring the mixture to a boil. Add the linguine, making sure the pasta is submerged in the liquid.
    3 cups chicken broth
    1 cup heavy cream
    8 ounces linguine
  • Reduce the heat to medium-low and let the pasta cook, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking, until it is al dente and most of the liquid is absorbed, about 10-12 minutes.
  • Stir in the grated parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Continue to stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is creamy.
