Easter Muddy Buddies
Easter Muddy Buddies are a no-bake snack mix with fewer than 10 ingredients! They’re sweet, crunchy, and perfect for Easter baskets or parties.

Our muddy buddies, also known as puppy chow, are a fun, kid-friendly, no-bake Easter-themed dessert! They’re crunchy, sweet, and packed with pastel-colored mix-ins like M&Ms and sprinkles.
The best part? Our recipe comes together in about 45 minutes and uses less than 10 ingredients, making it perfect for Easter baskets, party snacks, or sharing with friends.
How to Make Easter Muddy Buddies
In a microwave-safe bowl, heat the vanilla melting wafers, peanut butter, and butter in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
Pour the peanut butter mixture over the Rice Chex, and gently stir to coat.
Transfer the coated cereal to a large zip-top bag or container with a sealable lid, add the powdered sugar, and shake until the cereal is fully coated.
Spread the coated cereal on a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool, then toss in the mini marshmallows, M&Ms, Robin’s Eggs, and sprinkles.
Keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
Tips and Variations
- Place the muddy buddies in small cellophane bags and tie with a pastel ribbon for Easter party favors. They make adorable gifts!
- I opt for vanilla melting wafers since they melt so easily. You could also use white chocolate chips or baking chocolate in a pinch.
- Try swapping the Robin’s Eggs for other Easter candies like mini peanut butter cups, yogurt covered raisins, or malted milk eggs.
- Use sunflower butter or a nut-free alternative instead of peanut butter. This will change the flavor but the consistency will be similar.
Storage
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For the best taste and texture, enjoy within a couple of days.

Notes
- Servings: The calories listed are an approximation based on the ingredients in the recipe card and a serving size of .5 cup of muddy buddies. Actual calories will vary and are dependent on the ingredients used.
- Melting Wafers: I prefer to use Ghirardelli Vanilla Melting Wafers instead of white chocolate, but you can use white chocolate if desired.
- Peanut Butter: If you’re unable to use peanut butter, try almond or cashew butter. Sunflower butter is another option, but it has a strong flavor. Cookie butter may also work. Anything other than peanut butter is going to change the flavor. Use your favorite alternative!
- Mix-ins: Any of the candy add-ins can be changed. This is especially great if you want to switch things up for other holidays.
- Cool Time: This snack mix is technically done after mixing, but the coating may still be soft from mixing. To help it set faster, pop it in the fridge for 10-15 minutes then add the candy and marshmallows.
- Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container for about 1 week. It’s best within 2-3 days of being made.
