Bisquick Biscuits with 7 Up
We are huge fans of biscuits, and this homemade biscuit recipe is no exception! In just about 10 minutes of preparation time, you can have these sour cream Bisquick biscuits in the oven.
Baked in a pan of melted butter, they cook up flaky, tender, and perfectly soft! They’re great as a side dish or as a meal on their own.
Serve them up with strawberry jam, as a cheesy ham biscuit, or with a bowl of ham and beans. They’re also great with homemade sausage gravy, chicken tenders, scrambled eggs, or bbq grilled chicken.

How to Make 7 Up Biscuits with Bisquick
As easy as this recipe is, there are a couple of things to keep in mind. Try not to overwork the dough and adjust the amount of Bisquick as needed. Add just enough to make the dough manageable.

- Preheat the oven to 425°F, and pour melted butter into a 9×13-inch pan.
- In a large bowl, combine the Bisquick and sour cream.
- Stir in the 7-Up to form a soft and slightly sticky dough.
- Sprinkle a work surface with 1/4 cup of Bisquick. Transfer the dough to the work surface and sprinkle with another 1/4 cup of Bisquick. Knead and fold the dough to incorporate the Bisquick then pat it into a rectangle.
- Place the dough into the pan, and press the dough to fit. Try to keep it the same thickness throughout. It’s ok if butter comes up over the dough.
- Use a bench scraper to cut the dough into squares.
- Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown on top. Serve warm!

Refrigerator: Store leftover biscuits in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
Room Temperature: Biscuits store well at room temperature for up to 3 days.
Freezer: Baked biscuits freeze well for about 2 months. Wrap individual biscuits in plastic wrap then a layer of foil. Drop them into a plastic zip-top bag, and you’ll have individual biscuits whenever you like.
Do 7 Up Biscuits taste like soda?
No, they do not taste like soda. These biscuits are fluffy and flaky with a buttery flavor.
Can you use diet soda?
Diet soda contains artificial sweeteners which give these biscuits an unusual taste. We don’t recommend using diet 7 Up.
Are these biscuits sweet?
Nope, 7 Up Biscuits are not sweet. The sour cream not only gives them moisture but also a savory flavor. However, they can be served with jam or honey for a sweet taste.
Can you use something other than 7 Up?
Yes, use any variety of lemon-lime-flavored soda. Sprite or even ginger ale make good substitutes.
Can you use pancake mix in place of Bisquick?
Pancake mix works well in place of Bisquick. Be mindful that many pancake mix brands contain sugar which may cause these biscuits to taste sweet. It does work in place of Bisquick in a pinch.
Can you cut the biscuits into circles?
Yes, absolutely! This dough is slightly sticky and soft. You may need to add additional Bisquick to make it manageable; otherwise, the biscuit cutter sticks to dough as you cut the biscuits.
Why are my biscuits dry?
Over-kneading or over rolling the biscuit dough makes biscuits tough and dry. This dough has a different texture buttermilk biscuits and doesn’t hold up well to being overworked.
Try to avoid overcooking as this will also lead to a drier biscuit.
