Place blackberries, mint leaves, and granulated sugar into a cocktail shaker or tall jar. Use a muddler to gently crush the blackberries and bruise the mint leaves.
10 to 12 large blackberries, 10 mint leaves, 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
Next, add the rum, simple syrup, and lime juice. Shake to combine.
1 ½ ounces white rum, 1 ounce simple syrup, ½ ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
Pour into a cocktail glass over ice, and top off with club soda or seltzer water. Stir to combine.
Garnish with a lime wedge and fresh mint.
